Paws Unleashed

Located in Gainesville, Florida, our prison-based dog training programs pair adoptable dogs from Alachua County Animal Services with inmates from the Florida Dept. of Corrections and the Alachua County Jail.
The dogs live with and are trained by the inmates for 8 weeks and learn the basic skills necessary to pass the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen test. The adoption fee is $40.00 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccines.

Food, treats, training equipment, toys, grooming supplies, flea and heartworm prevention ...it sure adds up fast! Our organization is run entirely on donations from the public. We are always in need of various supplies as well as monetary donations to properly care for the dogs that we have in our program.
If you'd like to do something to help us make a difference in the lives of these dogs, take a look at our "Wish List" below. These are just a few of the things we need. Any contribution great or small, is both appreciated and tax deductible.
If you would like to make a donation by check please make it out to ACAS/Paws on Parole and Mail to:

Our Wish List
Because all of our training is reward based we are always in need of training treats. Soft small treats work best. Some of the dogs favorites are Zukes Mini Naturals, Cloud Star Tricky Trainers, and My Little Wolf.
All dogs need something to chew on and our pups just love Bully Sticks and Whimzees to help them keep their teeth pearly white.
Food dispensing toys are great for mental stimulation and exercise and the Kong Wobbler is one of our favorites.
Some of the other things we need are: 2 new laptop computers, crate mats, dog toys, notebook paper for journaling.
For information on how you can donate please contact Hilary Hynes at Alachua County Animal Services 352-264-6881 or 352-213-1241 or heh@alachuacounty.us
